Local SEO for home service businesses
Your website is not a brochure next to your profile. It is one of the things Google reads to decide whether that profile deserves the zip codes you want.
Local search is two surfaces that feed each other. The map pack ranks the profile. The organic results rank the site. They are scored differently, but the site is part of how Google decides what your business is and where it operates, so a thin site caps what the profile can achieve no matter how well the profile is built.
The pages that do this job are boring and they work: one page per service, one page per market you genuinely run trucks in, each answering the question a homeowner in that market is actually asking. What they are not is the same four paragraphs with the city name swapped. Google has detected that pattern for the better part of a decade, and eighty near-identical city pages is a liability, not a footprint. We have been hired to clean up that exact mess more than once.
So we write fewer pages and make each one worth ranking. Real scope, real price context, real photos of work in that market where they exist, and internal links that connect service to place so the relationship is stated rather than inferred.
Then the part most agencies skip: the page has to produce a phone call. Ranking a page that converts at one percent is a way to lose money slightly more efficiently. Structure, proof placement and call-to-action design are part of the SEO work, not a separate project.
What the work includes
Service pages
One page per thing you sell, built around the search that produces a booked job rather than a browse.
Market pages, where earned
Only for markets you truly service, with content specific enough to stand on its own.
Internal linking
Service tied to market and back, so the site states where you operate instead of leaving Google to guess.
Technical foundations
Fast, crawlable, correctly marked up, with schema that matches what the page actually says.
Conversion structure
Written to produce a call. Ranking a page nobody calls is not a result.
Questions
Is local SEO different from regular SEO?
Yes. Regular SEO ranks pages. Local SEO ranks a business in a place. The map pack is scored on profile signals, proximity and reviews, while organic results are scored on the page. A real campaign has to move both, because each supports the other.
Should I build a page for every city I service?
Only where the content can stand on its own. Duplicating one page across fifty cities with the name swapped is a well-known pattern that does more harm than good. We build fewer market pages and make each one genuinely specific.
Do I need a new website?
Usually not. Most contractor sites can be fixed rather than replaced. We audit what exists first and only recommend a rebuild when the current site is actively blocking the work, slow, uncrawlable, or on a platform that will not let us change what needs changing.

Map pack ranking
Ranking number one from your own shop is easy and close to worthless. The money is in the zip codes where you do not appear at all.

AI search visibility
A growing share of "who should I call" is now asked to an assistant instead of a search box. The companies those assistants name are the ones they can read clearly enough to trust.
